About Us

At Wandering Sojourners Travel, we believe the best way to understand Scripture is to walk inside it. Like the sojourners of the Bible — unhurried, faithful, and fully present — we guide people through the lands, cities, and roads that shaped the biblical story, so that the words we have read all our lives become places we can stand, touch, and feel.

Why Wandering Sojourners?

  • Sojourners are guests, not settlers.

  • Sojourners are people who rely on the hospitality of others.

  • Sojourners are people who seek the welfare of the city in which they find themselves.

  • Sojourners are people who know that their "citizenship" is in "that city whose builder and maker is God."

  • Come wander with us!

Meet the Team

David Charney is the founder of Wandering Sojourners Travel, an ordained pastor, and a travel advisor who curates faith‑centered journeys with purpose and care. He has planned and led 10+ international faith‑based trips, including five trips to Israel, five trips to Greece, and additional travel to England, Honduras, Kenya, and the Dominican Republic, along with U.S. destinations such as Chicago and National Parks.

Known for calm leadership and thoughtful planning, David Charney brings a love of Scripture, history, and place to every itinerary—helping travelers experience destinations with context, meaning, and an unhurried pace. He’s also a dedicated family traveler and an outdoor enthusiast who especially enjoys National Parks, with travel experience spanning five continents.

I am often the solo parent traveler behind the real‑world recommendations you’ll find here. With my husband’s school‑year schedule anchored to the classroom and my work schedule more flexible, I frequently travel on my own with our kids (from a teenager to an elementary-age child) —sometimes domestically, sometimes internationally, and always with the realities of solo parenting in mind.

Professionally, I’m a patent attorney with a PhD in chemistry, which means I plan to travel the way I approach everything: analytically, detail‑first, and skeptical of vague marketing claims. I pay attention to what actually happens once you arrive—logistics, safety, budgets, fine print, and the friction points that matter when you’re the only adult. From solo trips with my kids (including France) to cruises, especially Disney Cruises, and National Park adventures, my goal is to help other solo working parents plan smarter, avoid surprises, and feel confident traveling with their kids.
